Post Mortem for month of July 2013

The mystic knot is a popular sign; made up of 8 infinity knots.  It is
commonly found in many feng shui shops and it denotes everlasting
happiness, prosperity and all goodness to wearer:)
Recently we brought our new handmades to IMH (Institute of Mental
Health) and they were well received by both local as well as foreigners
(Filipinos who worked in the hospital)!  Thanks to all of  you who
supported us:)

A visit by teacher and students from Boon Lay to Scape Mall.
An interesting place for teacher n students to bond & shop
at the same time. They will never be bored with so many items
to see and choose from! Hope u visit us again:)

Items may be customized on the spot for buyers.  The mystic
knot is know to bring peace as well to the wearer.  You can wear it
as a bracelet, bag charm or hang it on your handphone:)

Another piece of  favorite I designed recently:)  It is well received
by both young n old!  There are many version and customers may choose
 different charms for their liking.

We are holding a Home n Lifestyle event from 2nd to 15th September at
Compass Point. Anyone interested to take up a space, please email to me:)
I am also conducting some jewellery making courses during these two weeks
and anyone keen to learn the art of jewellery making, kindly email me for
further details.  We only entertain genuine takers!

Before I knock off, I like to thank all my supporters and buyers from Alexandra and
IMH Hospitals for being our ever faithful customers:)

Happenings in July 2013

As usual, we are located outside Toast Box every weekend from
Friday to Sunday.  Since the flea market on Sat & Sun at Scape Mall
has relocated to Lucky Plaza, the crowd to Scape Bazaar is definitely
diluted.  Nowadays there so many bazaars n flea markets everywhere
around Singapore and customer base is not so great here as in Thailand
and other countries:(    Hence, the drop in business and some regulars
vendors also disappeared from the Scape scene:)  The Scape Bazaar organizer
also has another event on Saturday at Sentosa Broad Walk.  Hearsay the
business there is not so fanstatic  and I guess maybe this bazaar is still
new n not too many people know about it!

Toast Box, a place where we usually have our meals is also a
good meeting place for friends and families:) Customers can
easily locate us here and we also take our tea breaks inside to
cool down on hot and stuffy days:)

This retro necklace of butterflies is sold though customer find it
rather heavy.  The buyer looks good with the necklace and we
give her a good price of $15.00:)

After doing so many rounds of cocktail rings in natural stones
and pearls, I decided to give it a go with crystal balls.  I guess the
result is not too bad since these materials are lighter and more
comfortable on the fingers though the cost of making such rings
is definitely higher!  I hope this ring will find a wonderful buyer
soon:)  In the meantime, I shall keep myself busy designing new
items and thanks for visiting my blog and take care!

A Very Special Moment 9th July 2013

A special day for us, our son graduated with honours from NUS:)

A Beary Special Day indeed, 9th July 2013

A sea of balloons when the graduation ceremony ended:)

My son & his classmates jumping for joy n throwing hats!

No words can describe the feelings we had on 9th July 2013:)
We thank God n family for support:)  As parents, we look forward to
this day but my advice to son: be street smart as your degree is only
a foundation of your education and do not be complacent.

Haze Haze Singapore

My Scape Bazaar was postponed today due to the haze which
hovers over Singapore for the past few days.
At 11 am this morning, the PSI index went up to 400 level
which is very unhealthy indeed.  The visibility is quite bad and
in some places, buildings are completely enveloped by a layer of
smoke:(

Little Guilin in Bukit Batok.  This is my first visit to this scenic location
and I want to take a snapshot of the hazy surrounding:)
The picture below show a very misty Guilin and I bet this is not in China:)

I wanted to take more pictures but unfortunately my mobile battery
ran out:( Anyway, I will be back one sunny day to take another picture
without the haze!

Commencing next Monday, 24th June 2013, I will be based at Compass
Point for two weeks until 7th July 2013.  It will be a hobby cum
handicraft fair and anyone who is interested, please do drop by for a
visit:)  At times, I may be out doing my errands and for anyone who
is interested to look me up, kindly drop me a line via my email:)

See you around folks and pray the haze is soon cleared and we can
breathe clean air again:)

Happenings in June 2013

Zhenhua on 3rd June 2013

June Holidays are here again:) Some families are overseas while some
choose to stay put and not travel.  For me, June is a good month to
penetrate into the neighbourhood markets n yellow boxes:)  I see more
families with kids shopping since no school means more relaxed n
no rushing around to n fro schools and no Exam to fuss about:)

Above shows a snapshot of  Zhenhua yellow box facing market where the human
traffic flows:) I had a busy morning making wire wrapped rings for
the housewives who have done their maketing!  They stopped by to
chat at our table and curious to see what I have in store for the customers:) Some
domestic workers also came by to browse our items and our cheap prices
brought smiles to their faces!

Indeed, I have lots of  handmade items at very low prices compared
to those found in Orchard:)  The colourful items and crowd at my table
brought both laughters and much chattering among the customers who
seem to know one another!  I guess those who frequent the wet markets
often become friends over time.  This is a good way to socialize n discuss
prices of groceries n daily life happenings!

Bishan North on 4th June 2013

This sheltered area outside a tailor shop is also a good place
to showcase my handmade items.  Though it is so near to the
wet market, I practically can smell the freshness of fish n meat
sold, my area is so neat and tidy that most people would pop by
to take a second look at what I offer:)   Is my first time here and
some of my customers suggest that I come back during the weekend
where there are more crowds!  I have decided to return within two
weeks with more interesting products and some DIY stuff for
those who are interested to try their hands on handmade:)

A Short Trip To Jakarta

A very short trip to Jarkarta with my Indonesian friend before the
month of May ended:)   An hour's flight and upon landing, we went
straight to an Indonesian restaurant for lunch:)  I ordered Lotong and
my hubby, nasi lemak.   The dishes are quite different from Singapore;
the nasi lemak (rice cooked in coconut milk) and lotong have lots of
ingredients as seen in the picture!  Yummy! yummy! is what I can said
of the whole lunch with many other interesting items:)

Kopi Luwak (coffee) is an authentic Indonesian drink:)
Coffee powder is added to boiling water in cup  n I
waited 10 mins before adding my brown sugar n milk.  A bit
bitter and strong but it sure tasted good! A perk me up drink:)

Above features Indonesian kueh wrapped in banana leaves,
glutinous rice wrapped in chicken meat.
Two pieces are enough to fill you up! They are both tasty
and fragrant! And you only pay for what you eat:)

Another interesting n delicious item, Tahu Kipas which I never tried
before in Singapore.  It has some vegetable fillings inside and the tahu are
deep fried until very crispy:)  These go well with the gravy provided n
again one piece is all you need really:)

My Indonesian friend claims that the cendol (this greenish sllimy drink)
is what she missed most!  Those she tasted in Singapore cannot match the
ones in her hometown:)  I find it a little too sweet and added more ice to it!
It really smells nice, I guess due to the brown sugar added to it but too sweet
for comfort:(

Our little break not only come with lots of interesting food but a
3-hour massage n spa treatment for couple:) We were really pampered
from head to  toes  throughout and it was the longest I ever experienced:)
Everything from massage, to jamu treatment on skin, steam bath and jacuzzi
makes you feel so refreshed and alive again!

So much on the first day in Jarkarta and we spent our second day shopping &
feasting again:)  The only setback encountered on this trip is the horrible
traffic jam in Jarkarta! Is nothing like in Singapore, practically the traffic jam starts
when you hit the road until you reach your destination!  We were warned not to
go into the City which is worse and in the end, we had no chance of going
sightseeing:(  Still, is a worthwhile trip hosted by our Indonesian friend and
we flew back to Singapore, home sweet home on the third day!  What a
relief to leave those horrific traffic jams behind!
